TOP GOLF CARRARA
TOP GOLF is a relatively new brand in the Australian context.
This project was a collaboration between Design Laboratory and Maurice Liussi Architects and involved extensive master planning and adaptive reuse of an existing floodplain greenfield site.
The brief for the building was relatively simple; albeit with overlapping functions; a 2 storey golf course driving range, restaurants and bars, child minding facilities, a 24 hour gymnasium, 27 international standard tennis courts and facilities, parking for 300 cars, associated vehicular drop off zones and coach bus parking facilities.
The building is intended to be predominantly glass for transparency which was seen to be an important characteristic of opennness which was a function of both providing sufficient lighting and to maximise exposure to incidental views from Nerang Southport Road.
The first images shown are conceptual as the project twisted and turned with an ever shifting brief. These are shown as a 'moment in time.' The end product is quite different but the original ideas were translated successfully into a built result.
